Part Three: The Love
*I thought I can just pretend to love you*

I've been a fan of Fruits Basket for more so many years now that though I know Kyo and Kagura are not meant to be, I've always thought of them as a perfect couple. From the anime to the beginnings of the manga, I loved their relationship. It had humor, it had violence, it had something there that I thought was truly genuine. A lot have compared their relationship to Syaoran's and Meiling's relationship from the Cardcaptor Sakura anime, and in a way, if you are familiar with that storyline, I guess it is similar. As it was mentioned in The Past section, Kagura though, had a much more selfish reason to love Kyo. To Kagura, to love Kyo meant to redeem herself. To love Kyo, meant that she can erase what she did in the past. If she loved him, the good and the bad points, then nothing else would matter, she wouldn't have to feel so dirty anymore... Even though she distanced herself in the beginning, the more Kagura clung to Kyo, the more she really did love him and understood him.

Kyo on the other hand was always so annoyed with Kagura. She smothered him with her love that it always turned to hurting him with her violent outrage of affection. I thought it was just like Kyo to take in all of her habits and just let her be. Kyo may yell at her and run away from her, wanting her to stay away from him, but he never tried to hurt her. When she cried, he always gave in. It's clearly obvious that Kyo does care for Kagura. If she was hurt, if she was in trouble, I can bet that Kyo would be there in an instant to help her out. I think he understands Kagura as much as she has grown to understand him. When he told her that he did not love her, he stayed until she stopped crying.

Fighting the pain of a broken heart
Thinking about someone... there shouldn't be a reason behind it.
Thinking about
I love you's isn't good anymore

No matter what, I'll always love Kyo and Kagura. I'm glad they were finally able to be completely honest with each other in the end. Kyo had grown up enough to understand Kagura completely when she confessed to him, the reason why she was always with him. I love their interactions. Their "semi conversations" turning into angry yells. I love Kagura's cat obssesion. Her cat backpack and the many orange cats she has in her room. It's sweet. I think if it wasn't for Tohru, there might have been a chance in the end for both of them to be together. Kyo really did feel down after he told Kagura how he really felt about her. He truly was thinking of how she was feeling, how hurt she must be. He was very sincere. I've grown to like Tohru with Kyo though. They complete each other perfectly. But that's another shrine.

Kagura and Kyo may not be a happy ever after, but I do hope that both of them in the end will find, "A Happy Ever After" someday.
