Tacchan 80's or 00's?

Since reading most of the manga volumes of Touch and watching the movies... and recently the latest Touch movie, Cross Road I realized that Tacchan looks quite different updated. Of course to that you would say, "Duh! Of course he looks different" but still, I think I prefer Tacchan in the 80's.

Even though many people aren't used to Adachi's art style, Tacchan in the 80's looks quite cute. He looks like a normal 80's boy with big, sort of messy hair and a casual style of dress. I especially like the running suit he wore in one episode though in the beginning he really didn't have a need for a running suit since he didn't like to excercise. Still, his facial features are drawn really well and as the manga and the anime series went a long, Tacchan became quite a handsome guy and he eventually had fangirls every which way.

Minami too looks really pretty back then. The Touch character designs are very 80's but I think as the anime series went along, the designs got better.

As Tacchan and Minami got "updated" though, although the characters designs are still staying somewhat true to Adachi's style, Tacchan is really different looking. See, his hair is different and his eyebrows are more emphasized. His cuteness factor is sort of lost in all that CG.

This is also the same not only in facial areas but the bodies. The CG'd characters look a little "bigger?" I don't really know how to describe it. They sort of have that new style of shonen based anime drawings.

Even though I do like the new style the older style is so much better. After all, the original out of anything else is much better than any old "update" thing right? I mean, like the classic Coke is much better than Vanilla Coke or that Clear Pepsi they came up with a few years back. And definitely, the original Tacchan is great. Tacchan will always be great. But I am being biased.
