Vampire Princess Miyu

Vampire Princess Miyu. It should be Cardcaptor Sakura, I know, but most of you are already familiar with CCS anyway, so why bother? Vampire Princess Miyu is a great DARK and gothic like anime. It's about this girl named Miyu whose real identity is a guardian Vampire. She is there to basically save the people from the Shinma that are still loose in the streets. These Shinma are basically dark creatures that prey on people and taking their souls away. They diguise themselves as normal everyday people but their really evil. The show Miyu is somewhat disturbing too. It's bloody and violent. One of the most disturbing episodes I think is ep#3 where a Shinma, disguised as a man, lured all these beautiful women in his little chambers underneath an abandoned subway station. He promised them that "he" could make them more beautiful so these women agreed. Instead he made them into life like maniquins so they can stay beautiful forever. And when Miyu killed off the Shinma, Larva a one time Shinma who is now always by Miyu's side asked if she was going to free these women from their maniquin like states. But Miyu tells him no. Because it was their fault. Because they choose vanity instead of believing in their hearts. It was THEM that allowed themselves to be lured....
There are many more aspects to Miyu than what I have told you but just try to check this anime out before I start to give spoilers out to you. Believe me, I'm like the Princess ^_^ of spoilers.
The ending song to Miyu is awesome and if you're familiar with Neon Genesis Evangelion, Miyu's voice actress is the one that plays Maya. And what else? Let's see, all you Megumi Ogata fans out there, she's in this anime too. But you might not notice her voice at first because it's totally different from Haruka, Yukito, and Shinji. She plays Reiha and Misukake in this anime. And Reiha's voice is soooo... um soft and girly that I was so surprised that it was her voice. It sounds almost like the voice she uses for Princess Emeraude in Magic Knight Rayearth.
Vampire Princess Miyu first came around as an OVA series in 1988 because of the manga series. Narumi Kakinouchi's husband was the one that directed these movies. But about 10 years later, the anime came about. I haven't seen the OVA's yet. I've read the reviews saying that the color and animation style was a little old fashioned... but then again, it was made in 1988. The anime series however is amazing. Beautiful colors and excellent animation. I love how the eyes are drawn. And Larva? That's what you call good looking man.:-:Back:-:
