And Finally someone Rants!
~A rant that's worthy of
putting up.
Well, considering that we are an opinionated group and all, we are always bound to get e-mails by site owners about their websites getting a bad grade or a bad review. A lot of people have called me bitchy. Or my reviewers bitchy too. They think we're rude. Are we rude if we tell the truth? Are we rude because we DON'T sugar coat our reviews? Isn't a review site about opinions? Isn't a review site a place where you want to know about others' opinions of your site? So why get angry at us just because we don't like your site? Get over it!!! Sometimes people think so highly of themselves that they think they're the best in the world. Just give me a break. I never did put the rants and flames of people about this site here. But I recently got a rant (i.e. flame. Even though she says it's not) from one of the owners I reviewed and since the e-mail got me so worked up, I just had to put it up. My comments will be green
And just added on Feb. 13th '02, Mizuki adds her comments too. Her response will be red
Hee Hee... who knew that our little friend Steph can be so **POPULAR** in Yumemiru? ::coughs:: Chiori also adds her rant here about the chick... this was added on March 2nd '02. Chiori's comments will be purple

Review #140
>>>I enjoy getting constructive criticism, but I hate to say you were just down right rude.
You might think I'm rude... But I'm just speaking the truth. You take pride in your site because it's yours. You may think other people have the same opinion as you but think again. This is my opinion. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was speaking the truth. I wasn't sugar coating your review. What do you want? Praise? There are other review sites for that. We are here to help and if you think we sound rude well then don't send your site to us.
Mizuki: I *don't* hate to say this, but I read the review you gave her and it was
anything but rude. You didn't insult HER in any way, just her page which
sucked beyond belief.
Chiori: Really? How so? I also read the review that Aurora-hime gave you (twice to be
exact) and everything she said about your site was soooo true. It desperately
needs A LOT of help and modification. She gave you a lot of tips in both
reviews and all you need to do is swallow your god damned pride and freakin'
listen to what she had to say.
>>>>>I do many reviews, and have seen the worst of the worst of sites. I promise this isn't a flame, I just want a chance to defend my self.
OK! I actually don't care if you flame me or not. We are used to flames just because we speak the truth. You were the one who sent your site to us. You were the one who got a bad review. Don't blame it on us. But here are is my take on the your comments k?
Mizuki: Of course she's seen "the worst of the worst of sites", it's her OWN site!
Not a flame, eh? I have received plenty of flames in my day because of my
controversial site (*coughs* Yaoi Patrol *coughs*) and her message is what I
have dubbed the "evolved, yet idiotic flame". I get those a lot.
Chiori:
*cough* ...You??? *You* do reviews?? *cough* How ironic is this, you give
"suggestions" (I read the reviews that you've done and they are wayyyyyy too
sugar coated... ) to help "improve" others site, yet yours is NO example of what
to do correctly. Sheesh... And I totally agree with what Miaka Ann said. You
HAVE seen the worst of sites: yours. To tell you the truth, its not your site
that's so bad -- its you. Just listen to yourself! You sound so stuck-up!
Your attitude is not pleasant and it amazes me how you don't realize this. Or
maybe you do but don't care?
>>>>First the splash page: very well I'm changing my enter picture. The reason I have a "Navigation bar" site, is my site is pretty big, and granted at the home page there are 3 ways to get to an area, but I like it. Several people had requested I make a navigation type bar so that it would be easier. Say you're in the Graphics shop and want to get to the games. You don't have to go through all the links, or worse yet use the back button, you can just click on Jupiter's Icon. And I don't call it a Frames version, cause that's not really what it is. I consider frames like your site: Has a pic that stays there, a navigation somewhere on the frames, and then the one frame that changes.
Ok you made your point. But you need to make it better and a lot more noticable. And it IS considred a frames page OK? Frames are frames no matter what you say. It looks really tacky with those icons. Don't make your fonts so darn BIG. Your fonts in some of your subpages are hella HUGE!!! On the bottom of each page you can put the links there. The reason your site is so big is that you have so many damn enter pages. And that's why people found it hard to get around. And that's why they asked for a navigation bar. I swear, go through your site and count how many enter pages you have just to go through the root of a certain page. And everything in your site looks brushy. Do you know what I mean? Like the images you used has been turned to Jpeg to Bitnap and back again, that the picture is just so bad looking now because it's been over used.
Mizuki:
It's good she changed her enter pages. With a site like hers she doesn't
even need one. What is with "Navigation bar"? It's FRAMES!!!!! Her site is
big? Ha! She really doesn't have way as much information as she claims. And
with the way she explains things as simple as frames, how could anyone
possibly take her seriously?
Chiori: You've *changed* your enter image???????? This one really got to me. Do me a
favor: look at your splash page again. Right now. Tell me, doesn't it look
awfully familiar? Like, EXACTLY the same as your last one??? Oh, right. What
was I thinking? The image you used this time is different, therefore it makes
the *entire* enter image different, correct? NO!!! That is NOT how it works!!!
Again, you don't even listen to Aurora-hime's comments. So WHY did you waste
her time in sending in your site again for a re-review?!?!?!?!
>>>>>My counters serve as 2 different things. The one on the enter page shows me where everyone came from, but so many people just link strait to my home page, that the one on the splash page doesn't give a true reading. My site is a pretty big site as you can tell. If I were to have just the homepage with a link to every part of my site it would be even harder to navigate. So I have separated everything into sections (Information, images, games, links, awards, etc.). That's why there are so many 'enter pages' as you call them.
Who cares if people link to you in your main page? I found sites that link to me in my main page too! Not the splash page. I don't give a damn. Some day you will realize that counter stats aren't everything. It looks out of place. Don't you want your page to actually look nice? It's just there. Put an invisible counter then.
As for the enter pages... It's annoying. You just don't know how to organize it. And why use so many pictures? Look at Silver Moonlight. The best Sailormoon site in my opinion and Bunny's Tour Through the Silver Millenium. Those sites are HUGE and a lot bigger than yours but they KNOW how to use navigation right.
Mizuki: Excessive counters are pointless in my opinion. I really don't care how many
people visited each friggin' page of a website. So many people link her
homepage, eh? (I don't see who would WANT to) Then why doesn't she just make
her homepage the index page?!
Chiori: One counter on one page, okay? I don't care (and neither does anyone else)
WHERE you decide to put it, but just use ONE. If you care so much about how
many hits you have, then at least get a more attractive and smaller counter!
Try Dark Counter if all you want is to see the number of times your page has
been viewed, or try Site Meter if you want to see where your visitors came from.
>>>>>As far as images: I've worked very hard on all of them. I'm sorry if you don't like them. My site is for 'new SM fans' that don't know much about the show. It has ALL the info you'd want. So instead of having just a link (Such as in the character profiles), I have a picture so it's easier to recognize. Or example: personally when I started this site, I had no idea what the "Crystal Star" was. I found out it was one of Usagi's transformation brooches. So, I have pics of all there items. If it takes to long to load shot me! All the info is there so you can read it even if you don't want to wait on the images. I am working on making attacks Links.
You can do these in text links. If people don't know what a crystal star is, then let them click on the link. By putting pictures there it makes your site look ugly because it looks cluttered. Look at other "newbie" sites. Have you heard of the Sailor Senshi Page? That's another great Sailormoon site and again a lot BIGGER than yours and again, alot more organized than yours. I knew Sailormoon because of her page. I learned more about Sailormoon because of her page. And though I'm not a fan of SM anymore, her site is VERY interesting. Because it's neat, clean, no huge fonts that look out of place and not cluttered with pictures.
Mizuki: *Blinks* Crystal star? Maybe I'm just Sailor Moon impaired... The pictures
for every little thing really pissed me off, too. At this point in time I
doubt that there are any "new SM fans". Either people like sailor moon or
they don't. It's been around far too long for anyone to start liking it, but
hey I could be wrong. But the pictures need to go.
Chiori: You've worked "hard" on them? Is "hard" defined in your head by spending 5
seconds on the image? I ask this because that's what ALL your images look like.
They look like crap. They look like they've been slapped on to your paint
program, and then tattooed with some random colored font. If you've worked as
hard as you implied, then make it show. Take more time in making your graphics.
I agree with Miaka Ann about there not being any "new SM fans." The show is
what, 10 years old now? Besides, if someone wants to learn about the series,
they're going to go to a site where the layout is pleasing to the eye and where
there is more content. If Aurora-hime didn't already mention the Sailor Senshi
Page, I would have because it's a prime example of a terrific SM information
site.
As far as links: I linked the WPR sites that it was required in there rules. You don't requier it.
Why did you take me seriously on this? I was just kidding. I always comment on sites that link to other WPRs but not to us because we don't require it.
Mizuki: You know, Aurora-hime, I think it would be nice to make it a rule to link
Yumemiru. Man, she should check her spelling.
Yeah, I know, I know... Maybe I should make it a rule, when the next layout or two comes around. But I want them to do it for themselves.
Chiori: So??? Shouldn't you, out of respect, link ALL the WPR sites who took the
time to review your site? It doesn't matter whatsoever as to what was said in
the review, or if it was good or bad, but you ASKED for it. Don't blame the WPR
for the reviews you got back. YOU are the one who controls what goes in to your
site, and how it's presented. So, out of consideration, at least say something
like, "Thank you, Yumemiru Reviews, for all of your suggestions even though I
decided not to use them." Is that so hard? Oh, and by the way, require is not
spelled "requier." Spell check anyone? o _ O
Yes, I agree that page takes a long time, and I don't
care. If someone wants to see it that bad they will wait. other wise I'm sure they will just push the back button.
OK then, so that means you're not catering to your visitors who have slow connections even though you care about your counter stats right? That really makes sense.
Mizuki: That's exactly what I did while waiting for the pages to load. I pressed the
back button.
Chiori: You don't care?! Oh, wise thing to say, my dear. For all you know, 1/2 of
your visitors could be reading your review and/or reading *this* rant right now.
(Yeah, yeah, you said this wasn't a rant, but it sure sounds like one to me.)
And I'm 99.9% positive that what you just said is NOT appealing to them.
They're probably thinking, "What kind of a website owner are you anyway?!"
*raises hand frantically* I know! I know! An inconsiderate one!
I'm sorry to say, but your reviewing is just Personal Opinions (i.e.. "Your splash page sucks", "First of all, that pink background has to go... I really don't like it because it makes your page look crappy") and no 'facts' (i.e.. "You have a broken link", "I couldn't find this page", etc.) Opinions are great and I think they need to be included in a review, but they should be suggestions not requirements, and they shouldn't count against you.
DID YOU READ ABOUT YUMEMIRU REVIEWS? IN THE YUME SECTION?????????? DIDN'T I WRITE THAT WE ARE AN OPINIONATED SITE? DIDN'T I MENTION THAT WE PUT OUR OPINIONS IN OUR REVIEWS? Ugghhh! This really got me. Aren't review sites supposed to be full of opinions? Isn't that what a WPR is for?
If you don't want opinions why the heck did you send your site again? We helped you before. Didn't I give you suggestions also? If I didn't put my opinions in your site, you would still have that ugly splash page. And yes, no matter what you say, it IS a FACT that your splash page is ugly. If it wasn't a "fact", why did you change it all of a sudden after my review? You changed it because I said it was ugly and you also realized that it was. You didn't take our advice the first time around so why bother? You should make your page cleaner. You should take time to make it look like it didn't come from page builder. And honestly what did you want me to say about the splash page? Do you want me to sugar coat it like other reviewers?
Well then here I go... ::A sugar coated review from "bitchy" Aurora-hime::
~So um yeah... I really like that you have a splash page that doesn't go to waste. Good job. The only thing is that picture is not needed because well it looks a little bad. Oh sorry, that is my opinion. But if you want it there well I guess it's Ok...~
::PUKES:: IS that the kind of review you want from your site????
Well, then why are you sending it to us? I know you just want praise. And I know everyone likes praise. Look at the few sites that made it to Eternal Dreams. OUR OPINIONS are there too and they made it to the best of the best. You know why? Because their sites have opinions, are clean, and are not cluttered.
Mizuki: Ooh, this annoyed me. WPR's are supposed to be opinionated! We *do* tend to
use facts more often than opinions, though. And it is a fact that her splash
page sucks. Why? Because NO ONE in their right mind would like something as
hideous as a splash picture with blues, greens, yellows and browns that
looks edited a thousand times agains a bright pink backround with such an
ugly font in use.
Chiori: You know what? You're not using your brain right now. THINK about it. Getting
a review means you get both facts and opinions. We are humans just like you.
We all like different things, and different things get on each of our nerves.
For example: your splash page. It sucks and I'm saying it straight out. Sure,
it may *sound* like an opinion, and I suppose you're half correct, but it IS a
fact no matter what you say. It *does* suck, so now all you have to do is
change it. And no, I don't mean getting a new picture and slapping the same
god-awful text on it like you did for your latest layout.
>>>>If there's anyway I can get a second opinion that'd be great. If you all don't want to bother with me again that's fine.
If you want a second opinion, submit it again. There are people ahead of you.
Mizuki: I'd gladly review her site next time around, but if she doesn't improve
anything I'm gonna type "TSSP" for This Site Sucks Period.
Aurora-hime: All right, since you offered and all. But I doubt she'll send it too us again because I don't think she wants to know what others REALLY think of her site.
Chiori: Haha, this one made me laugh. I will also help Miaka Ann out if you're brave
enough to send your site to us again. But, just to let you know, it *would*
help get you a better review if you take at least *some* of Aurora-hime's
advice.
>>>>>But I bet you one thing: Bet you can't find a personal site done by one person that has as much organized info. as my site.
This was the one that irked me too! I can't believe she would say such a thing!
~ Bet you I CAN!! Bet you I CAN!! Bet you I CAN!! Bet you I CAN!! Bet you I CAN!!
Look at the SM sites that I just suggested.
The Sailor Senshi Page, Bunny's Tour To The Silver Millenium, and then there's The Sailor Senshi Hangout and Usagi's Diary. Those sites are quite BIG especially the first two. The Sailor Senshi Page is the best. It has opinions and is ORGANIZED and knows how to use navigation properly. Compare your site to them and you'll understand how cluttered your page really is. And how useless it is to use so many images. And yes, all these pages are done by ONE person.
You can find these sites in search engines... So I won't bother giving you the links. Usagi's Diary and The Sailor Senshi hangout can be found in our past reviews.
Mizuki: *Rolls on the floor, laughing her ass off hysterically AGAIN* Oh, please. My
Fanfiction.net bio is better organized than all of the information on her
site put together.
Your review was completely justified and fair. I saw plenty of facts to
support your opinions. She's just an egotistical cretin who is mad because
someone told her the truth about her crappy website.
Chiori: Really? I'm game, how much do you wanna bet? All you've got? I'm sooooo
destined to win this bet because I know of sooo many sites that are 300% better
than yours. Most of them have already been listed by Aurora-hime, but y'know,
you're probably too chicken to actually look them up to see what you and your
crappy site are up against. Your site doesn't even BEGIN to compare to theirs.
*shakes head* You know what Steph, I'm going to give you some advice that I
suggest you take if you don't take any of the other advice Aurora-hime, Miaka
Ann or I have already given you. Stop while you're ahead. I'm sure you
felt proud of your site before you sent it in for the first review from us. And
when you got the review back, you figured, "Oh, okay. So what if one person
feels like this? Its only *one* person!" So then you make some MINOR
modifications, and then you think, "Time to show this Aurora girl that my site
is the BEST SM site ever!" And to your shock and dismay, you find that your
re-review is less than par. So then you decide to complain, or "defend"
yourself as you said earlier. Well I have to laugh at this too because you're
doing one HECK of a job "defending" yourself. You've now accomplished these
things by sending in this rant:
1. You have angered the entire Yumemiru staff
2. You have admitted to your visitors that you don't care a damn about them
3. You have ruined what little respect you had before all this nonsense
4. And you have just showed everyone who visits Yumemiru how rude and
inconsiderate you are
I must say that this is *quite* an amazing list, don't you think? You've really
shown your class. Ohhhh yeah.
>In the name of the moon,
>Usako AKA Steph
Thanks for replying to my review. I like OPINIONS.
